The UCSD Carpentries Program is recruiting new instructors to fill six
openings for individuals interested in becoming certified Carpentries
instructors and teaching The Carpentries Foundation curriculums and
methodology. Candidates selected for the Carpentries Certified Instructor’s
Training will be sponsored by the UCSD Carpentries Program at no cost to
them.
During the informational session, we will talk more about:
* What it means to be a Carpentries instructor and the UCSD Carpentries
Program
* Instructor training and the certification process
* Workshops and time commitment expectations as an instructor
* Instructor recognition through UCSD Co-Curricular Activity
acknowledgement and LOR for future career opportunities
Who can participate?
The informational sessions are open to all UCSD graduate, post-doctoral
students, staff, and faculty. The registration deadlines are October 17th
(virtual session) and October 24th (in-person session). Registration is
limited to 20 participants for the in-person session.
How will I benefit from this workshop?
As a Certified Carpentries Instructor, you will strengthen your confidence
through learning new skills, gain teaching experience in a classroom
setting, and share their knowledge with fellow scientists and colleagues.
In addition, instructors who complete their annual commitment will receive
acknowledgement as an Instructor for the UCSD ‘Software and Data Carpentry
Workshop’ Co-Curricular Record Activity and may request a Letter of Support
from the program for future endeavors.
